I've just lost my right arm

At about 10:30am on Thursday 28th January 2016 - It felt like my right arm had been ripped from its socket.

I was updating apps on my Macbook Air and I wasn't concentrating. I clicked 'upgrade' on the new El Captain system upgrade. Then I agreed to the T&Cs and then I realised what i'd just done.

*Deep Breath*

Firstly, no, I hadn't backed up. The upgrade was an accident.

Secondly, I thought it'll be ok, the update is happening fast and there don't seem to be any problems.

Thirdly, Crap.

At 80% complete, the laptop (which is under a year old) frozen for about an hour before completely dying on me. There was no lights, no sounds, no nothing. I called Apple and we pushed buttons for 20 minutes. I then went to an Apple 3rd Party Supplier and they asked me to turn it on so they could run diagnostics - It took every ounce of my being not to scream "If i could turn it on, I wouldn't Fing be here". They offered to send it off and have a look but I decided to take it home and speak to App again.

Thanksfully, 99.9% of my work is on the cloud and apart from one client system I could access everything from my iPad. but I basically lost a days work because I was running around and on the phone all day.

This whole day got me thinking - I don't have a back up plan for digital disasters. Thankfully at 8:45pm there was a beep from my coffee table. The computer had magically restored itself and I could finally catch up properly on some work.

Do you have a digital back up? What would happen to your business if your computer just died?
Food for thought.

#SupportOurTroops - Past and present.

It's no secret that i'm a supporter of all things uniform. Our emergency services and military are, in my opinion, amazeballs. So it's probably no surprise that i've been following the news recently about a certain military based story that has got peoples tongues wagging.

This story has got Civvies and Military Personnel alike a little bit hot under the collar. Now you can make up your own mind about this and we are all entitled to an opinion (as long as you agree with me, we can stay friends). The main reason for this newsletter was, if by any chance,  any of the people involved may happen to read this then you should know a few things;

(This information comes from a friend of mine, who happens to be an RAF Vet.)

For the guys facing investigation. Further advice via ex-Police ex-Redcap sites.

1) Ignore any letters. They have NO relevance in law.

2) Do not under any circumstances attend any place or office if requested. If they want you, let them arrest you and a whole new ball game opens up.

3) If arrested say nothing - request a lawyer.

4) Whoever arrests you has 24 hrs to charge or release you.

5) A tactic may be to bail you 'pending further enquiries' if this happens make an immediate complaint against arresting officer. This is a 'historic enquiry' so what further enquiries are necessary?

6). Make a Freedom of Information demand to the MOD for the identity of the complainant and, more importantly, if the complainant is or was a paid intelligence source. This will really f*** them up because, even if there was a sniff of a case, they would have to drop it.

I. AM. ME.

To my family I am someone. To my friends I am another.

I wear many hats and I am one person.

I can be loving, I can be an arsehole.

I can be moody, I can be hilarious.

I am a rock, I crumble.

I've had my heart broken in times of weakness, I have picked up the pieces in times of strength.

I am charitable, I hate sharing.

I'm a good person, I am a bad person.

I am a lover, I am a fighter

I've been proud of myself and i've been ashamed

I've done great things and things I wish I could forget

I like to be alone, i like to be the centre of attention.

I like people to think I have a heart of stone,  I just want to be cuddled and loved.

I will hold your hand in times of trouble whilst looking away to hide my own tears.

I sacrifice for others, I am selfish

I am the definition of contradiction.

I am....a lot of things, I am one thing. I. AM. ME.

through all my strengths, weaknesses, pros, cons, successes and failures, I try to be true to me.

I am Dee

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT - I'm going to call my baby.... Cucumber.

With the recent news that Katie 'Jordan' Price took 6 weeks to name her baby and then come to a final decision it should be called .... Bunny.... I'm left in a state of sympathy (for the child) and anger (towards the mother)

Someone I know had a baby and unfortunatly during the pregnancy the father died. In honour of the father the mother wanted the daughters middle name to be simply one letter. The inital of the fathers first name. This was not allowed. YET we can just pick a random animal and that is an acceptable name for our child.

As a woman, of a certain age, I was a big fan of the Friends sitcom. and i can't lie, after the Princess Consuela Banana Hammock episode, we all thought about changing our name to that..or crap bag, Just for a laugh. But to actually name a poor defenceless child BUNNY... well that just takes the absolute piss.

What actually goes through parents minds when naming their children these stupid names!? Any of you that know me properly will know i'm happy doing my own weird thing with weirder people. I'm not one to follow the rules but this is not one of those areas that I would mess with. Although, after typing the title to this blog, I hope that one day, I meet someone called Cucumber. It just wont be my own child....
